Heavy medium shallow trough separator, also known as shallow trough heavy medium separator, is a key equipment in the coal preparation and mineral processing industry, especially good at lump coal waste removal. Its core working principle is Archimedes' principle of floating and sinking, in which raw coal is fed into a heavy medium suspension of a specific density (such as a suspension prepared by magnetite powder and water). Clean coal with a density lower than the medium will float on the surface and be discharged by the scraper as floating matter; while gangue with high density will sink to the bottom of the tank and be transported away by the bottom scraper as sediment, thereby achieving efficient and precise separation.
